How Training Consultants Using DesignJot to Build Better Training

May 7, 2012

Let me tell you about my recent experience with DesignJot.

As I was prepping the room for our design meeting, my client asked if she could get me a laptop to load up my PowerPoint deck.  I smiled and thanked her, but told her I wouldn’t need PowerPoint today.  While she watched, I hooked up my iPad to the projector and tapped DesignJot.

“Well, this is different,” she said, unconvinced.

As I started the needs analysis – tapping questions, adding notes – the conversation on the design blossomed.  We chatted about activities and with DesignJot, and I was able to map those to the identified behaviors from earlier in the discussion.  At the end of our design meeting, my client mentioned that she could really visualize how the end-product would look.

That’s the great thing about a tool like DesignJot.  I had a discussion with my client; I didn’t present to her.  She could see my direction and verify my thoughts. We collaborated on the design concept and worked together to set the tone for the upcoming course.

I’ve since used DesignJot with every client I meet with.  Even if you don’t project it on a screen in face-to-face meetings, I’ve used it for my own purposes when contacting a client on the phone just to organize my design and keep the conversation on track.  This really is an innovative app for any instructional designer or training consultant, new and experienced alike.

DesignJot is our award-winning app developed to help instructional designers, trainers, and performance consultants build better training. This ground-breaking app assists both novice and experienced instructional designers in collaborating with their clients, with the goal of creating engaging training courses.
